When we bought this house 10 years ago, it seemed roomy and perfect for our family- which at the time included 3 boys ages 5, 3 and 20 mos, and soon after we moved in, a newborn girl.
(Pay no attention to the evidence that my kids can't do their chores and pick up the cat food containers.)Come on in. As you come in, you'll notice a wall. I painted it blue to make sure you noticed. This feels like a complete bottleneck when we have furniture in here.
See the light at the end of the tunnel? *grin* I've been frustrated by the space arrangement in the "public area"of our house for years. We have this one public space, and teen boys, schoolage kids, preschoolers. We have a large family and our friends have large families, and the way our space is divided just feels so tight to me.
If you run towards the light and turn around, this is what you see.
That blue wall partitions off the kitchen area. The 9x11 galley style kitchen area, which never EVER has enough counter space. Or cabinet space. From the end of the "eat in/dining" area to the end of the laundry room area is 27 feet. 27x9 is a very long, narrow area. However, it does make for a great lap lane for my kids. Except, I hate it when they run laps around that wall in the house. Someone always gets hurt.
This area was originally the "eat in" area of the kitchen. The only dining space. But it's too small for our table. We made it our homeschool space, and it worked, but wait til you see what we do with it!
Doesn't this kitchen just inspire something in you? I think God has been preparing me all these years to go live somewhere else. I'm totally accustomed to plywood countertops, concrete floors, and crowded spaces.
Lastly, this is my laundry room. It used to be the passage from the kitchen to the garage, until we knocked out part of the wall years ago so you could get through. The downside is that now everyone who visits gets a good look at my laundry room in all its cluttered glory.
Based on a true story, of love for my God, my world, and my man and the seven children we're working on, too.

haha! You should see my laundry-room in TX. It is a closet behind folding doors at the back of the narrowest bathroom ever. Our house is built like a giant travel trailer. lol Complete with the dark trailer paneling. At least the bedrooms are gigantic! :)
We have the dark trailer paneling. I just painted right over it. Every wall you can see in these pictures is paneling. Even the wallpapered wall has paneling under it; but it was the previous owner who papered over it.
